Miss Brumby, along with the help of our pre-school teaching assistant, Miss Maroney, are in charge of Class 1. This class has mixed pre-school and reception year groups with access to a bright and stimulating outdoor area.
The pre-school and reception children are taught separately for some sessions but are together for carpet time and free flow. The children in Class 1 have playtime on the playground outside with the rest of the school, which is a fantastic opportunity for them to play with and talk to the older children (who take great pride in being responsible for the younger ones!). Additionally, the children have constant access to the outdoor area attached to our classroom.
This term in Class 1 our topics are 'All About Me' and 'Once Upon A Time Traditional Tales'. We will use these topics as a basis for all of the work that we do in class and they will be incorporated into all aspects of the curriculum.
In phonics, our pre-school children are working on phase 1 of Letters and Sounds, and our reception children are working on phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. We also use the Jolly Phonics actions to teach the children sounds.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. This term our focus is movement and ball skills.
Please ensure your child has a waterproof coat and wellies at school so that we can make the most of the outside regardless of the weather!
