School Meals

We pride ourselves on being a healthy school.  Many of our children enjoy a cooked meal. These are provided by Kingswood catering company and are healthy, balanced meals and meet all the governments nutritional standards for food in schools. Meals are booked with the company directly and paid for online. Please go to www.kingswoodcatering.co.uk for more details.
Some children prefer to have a packed lunch. We encourage children to eat a healthy and balanced packed lunch with plenty of fruit and vegetables. Please note that, as we have children in school who have allergies, no products containing nuts should be included in pack ups.
Currently, the cost of school dinners for KS2 is £2.30 per day. KS1 are free due to the Government initiative.

Free School Meals
Please don’t forget to check your eligibility for Free School meals.
Parents in England do not have to pay for school meals if they receive any of the following

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

From 6 April 2012, Working Tax Credit rules for couples have changed and because of the increase in the number of hours a couple has to work in order to qualify, some families may have lost their entitlement to Working Tax Credit. Those families may be entitled to free school meals if they now satisfy any of the above criteria.

A proportion of the school budget is made up of the ‘pupil premium’. The calculation for this funding is based on the number of children registered for a school meal.
Whilst the take up of a free school meal is optional, the school does still receive additional funding for these pupils when they are registered for free school meals. This enables us to provide additional support for learning or to enhance the curriculum in other ways. The application process for free school meals is completely confidential and if you are successful in applying it does mean that your child will be entitled to support with the cost of trips or sporting events too.

Remember if your child is eligible for free school meals the school will receive additional funding to support them.

If you think your child may be eligible by clicking the link below you will find information about the provision of Free School Meals.
